Open the app and you'll see a few boards to start with. Tap the settings icon to swap in any stations you like by name or three-letter code. Your choices are remembered on your phone.

No. There's no sign-up, no email, no password. The app just works — your stations and alerts live on your device.

Train Departures is an iPhone app. It runs on iOS 15 and later.

Open the Journey tab, pick a from station and a to station, and choose a time. You'll get every service that'll get you there, with the changes and connection times made plain.

Tap a journey to save it — it appears on the Track tab, live, so you can follow it as it runs.

A watch is a service you've asked to be kept an eye on. The moment it's delayed, its platform changes, or it's cancelled, you'll get a notification. You don't have to keep the app open.

First, check that notifications are allowed for the app in iPhone Settings. If you've recently switched off and on again, or changed time zones, try removing and re-adding the watch.

If it's still not working, drop us a message below and we'll take a look.

Open your watches in settings and swipe to remove the one you no longer need. You can also turn off all notifications there.

The Track tab is the management home. It lists every train you're watching — with its live status, and quick actions to see it on the map or remove it — alongside any journey you've planned.

Long-press a train on the board to watch it, or plan a journey in the Journey tab; both show up on Track.

The same official live running information the railway uses internally — platform changes, delays, cancellations and train positions as they're reported across the network.

Live information can change at a moment's notice, and occasionally the railway itself reports something that's later corrected. Always check the platform screen at the station before you board — that's the source of truth.

Every station in the country is in the app. Search by name or code in settings to add it to your boards. If you genuinely can't find it, let us know below.

Yes — seven days, free, with everything unlocked. Nothing is held back during the trial: live boards, the map, alerts, journey planning, the lot.

After that it's £0.99 a month. You'll be reminded before the trial ends, and if you cancel before then you're not charged.

The app is free to download and the first seven days are free. After that it's a single £0.99 monthly subscription — no tiers, no extras, no ads, and nothing else to buy.

Not beyond the free trial. Train Departures runs on live data feeds that cost money to licence and serve, and there are no ads and no data selling to cover it — the subscription is the whole business model.

The seven days are there so you can decide properly before paying anything.

Subscriptions are managed by Apple. Go to iPhone Settings → your name → Subscriptions, find Train Departures, and cancel there. You keep access until the end of the period you've paid for.
